I use photography as a means of conveying my sense of amazement with all that surrounds me; the colors, angles and textures from which the visual world is constructed. I am always curious about my environment, and photography allows me a chance to explore and (momentarily at least) to capture and present an image of what I see.
My fascination with the ‘everyday’ items of our culture leads me to capture many objects often described as mundane. I find myself drawn to faded paint and decaying lettering more than to the monumental buildings and technological ephemera of our society due to the emotion these forgotten and overlooked objects contain.
The photos in this show come from distinct places: Santa Cruz and Los Angeles California, Xela, Antigua, San Pedro, Santiago and Tajumulco Guatemala. Traveling through these places I experience constant wonder and gratitude for the images I see and through these photos I hope to convey some sense of these feelings.
